Today we thought we would share with you some ideas for planning your rehearsal dinner.
Not sure what a rehearsal dinner is all about? Well, it is typically an informal meal after a wedding rehearsal, which generally takes place the night before the actual wedding. It’s also an opportunity for the wedding party and out of town guests to get to know each other better, and most importantly, it’s a chance for the bride and groom to thank all the people who have helped them through out the wedding planning.
It doesn’t have to be an elaborate affair, but does require some planning and thought. The evening can be as casual or as formal as you choose, whether it’s in a private room at a restaurant or a catered meal at a family home. The time of year and location of your wedding can also play a role in choosing an ideal venue.
Here are some great ideas for planning your rehearsal dinner….
Wine pairing at a Winery
Invite your guests to a local winery and plan your meal with wine pairings for each course. Enjoy a tour of the vineyard and if its a nice day, serve dinner outdoors so that you and your guests can enjoy the view. A nice touch would be to provide each guest with a bottle of the wineries finest as a gift to take home.
Host a casual affair in one of your parents, friends or relatives backyards and relax. What better way to introduce two families than over burgers, dogs, and grilled corn on the cob? Opt for picnic tables, checkered or patterned linens and paper lanterns. Perhaps suggest a potluck by asking each member of the bridal party to bring a favorite dessert. Send each guest home with a jar of homemade jam, mustard or bbq sauce as a token of your appreciation.
Not all rehearsals have to follow with a sit down meal. Why not choose to have a cocktail party and enjoy bite sizes snacks with a savoury flair. Create a signature drink that represents the bride and the groom and serve along with wine and champagne. Host the party in a private room of a restaurant, lounge or even an art gallery.
There a limitless options when it comes to planning your rehearsal dinner. We suggest choosing a venue or theme that best suits the couple. Don’t be afraid to step outside the box, have fun with it!
